Friday's Fun Find: eReader

I was searching for a download-able version of a book online, and came across Barnes and Noble's eBooks. You simply download their free eReader and you can read Bestsellers (and much more) from your PC, Mac, Blackberry, Palm, or Nook. They have a user-friendly DeskTop Reader and an online account that stores your books, magazines, and newspapers so you can easily revisit your old materials and download them again when you upgrade.

If you have, like me, been liberating yourself of hard-copies this is a great way to go!

Friday's Fun Find: Yéle Haiti

My dear little blog,
It has been way too long since I have posted here! I have thought of you often and miss our daily interactions. I recently learned about a philanthropy that I wanted to share, and I hope you will accept this long overdue Friday's Fun Find.

You can use your cell phone to text “Yele” to 501501, which will automatically donate $5 to the Yele Haiti Earthquake Fund (it will be charged to your cell phone bill). According to an interview with CNN, in 2005, Haitian-born and Brooklyn-raised musician Wyclef Jean created the grassroots charity organization Yéle Haiti. The former member of the Grammy-winning group The Fugees coined the term Yéle in a song and imbued it with the meaning, "a cry for freedom."

I hope to be back on the blog again soon!
Sincerely,
Just Plain Joy
